There were three people who inspired me to start The Back Building. People I wanted to know more about - more than 140 characters in a Twitter Update would tell me anyway. One of these people was Sue Huybensz aka Fairview Sue.
Sue worked at a pharmaceutical company, dedicating her time to finding a cure for AIDS, until she suffered a brain aneurysm hemorrhage leaving her too exhausted to return to work.
So she decided to launch her blog http://suefairview.com/ and indulge in one of her favourite past times - writing about gay sex. Hot, sweaty, beary, gay sex.
Regularly fantasising about gay porn stars, Sue posted all her dreams online until the studios and even the stars themselves began to sit up and take note.
Sue was soon reporting live from the world of gay porn, professionally reviewing the films she used to watch and ultimately interviewing the stars she once fantasised about - one even invited her to his wedding!
A real inspiration to me, Sue has pushed other peoples’ opinions to one side and quite literally followed her dreams…

Did you worry how people you knew might judge you when you started your blog?
Nope. I think the stigma against gay porn stars is dead wrong. Gay porn is completely legal in the US, so people should just get off their high horse and accept it. Sex workers are people too and deserve the same happy lives that we do. They fall in love, they want to marry and they deserve it because it is a very difficult job and they are people just like you and me. Anyone who thinks differently is just plain wrong and possibly bigoted. So bring on those judgemental assholes!
When you started your blog was it with the intention of being a fan or a critic?
My blog has evolved over time. It began as a platform for my book, Bookfeld and Fair View Fantasies. I soon discovered that if I posted photos of nude men, I got many more hits! If I included cocks, the hits went up exponentially! Then I discovered porn and porn stars. I discovered Francesco D’Macho and wrote fantasies about him. That’s how he found me and my blog. He left a comment and I was tickled pink. We kind of discovered each other. I was his first virtual fan and he was my first virtual porn crush. So yes, I began as a fan but then later became a reviewer and photographer.
Do you know how many straight females read your blog?
Very few I think. One or two write in and say they are following which is nice.
What did the porn stars/studios first make of you when you began to feature their films?
Everyone was very nice. I was very lucky to obtain screener status for Stag Homme, Logan McCree, Raging Stallion and Falcon Studios and I still love doing it. I think that interviews with sex workers are easier for me to obtain because my slant differs from other peoples. I ask friendly, intimate and personal questions, not the traditional industry type questions.
Which actor are you fondest of and why?
My very first porn crush was on Francesco D’Macho (below). Sigh. He is a huge turn on. It is his size, body, classic Roman features and blue eyes. Of course his perfect cock is nice too. Lol! He really is a sweetheart when you meet him, but he doesn’t trust anyone just right off.
He actually sent his best friend, Cristiano, to check me out before we met. Then after meeting him in NYC, he invited me to his wedding in Madrid. I would have to say he is still my favourite. But right now, my two porn crushes are Trenton Ducati and Rogan Richards
Which celebrity would you most like to see in a porno?
Chris Hemsworth - but he’d probably be terrible! I just want to see him naked. Or Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. That would be awesome!
As a straight woman are you attracted to the bigger more masculine guys or do you find the twinky guys attractive too?
I adore bodybuilders and have even dated a couple of straight ones. My own husband is a big guy. He kind of looks like what the gay community would call a ‘bear’. I really get off on big men. I am not at all attracted to twinks. They just remind me too much of children. I really like facial and body hair too. However now and again I will review a twink film because my friend Bruno Bond is directing and also what I like doesn’t reflect my audience’s interests.
Is it the idea of two men together you find attractive or just the lack of a woman? Or both?
I really don’t know. Seeing two men together is just so fucking hot - I cannot explain why. When they kiss, seeing two hard cocks, seeing men get blown or eaten, seeing a cock going into an ass and pounding it! OMG! Just so fucking hot! Sometimes I fantasise that I am the bottom, but not always. I should probably talk to a gay man about how it is for them and see if it is any different.
A woman just spoils everything for me! I hate how they sound in porn. The high squealing noises they make. Ugh! I don’t need to see tits and ass, I have them! The idea of pussy eating is totally gross.
Do you ever watch gay porn with your husband? If not do you get off on it on your own?
Ha! My husband would never watch gay porn! He even hates fixing my computer because of the images on my blog. But he did come to Francesco’s wedding with me and also to a gay bar to meet Steve Cruz. So he’s not homophobic.
When I review porn, I have to close my office door if he is home. And yes, I do get off on it all the time. I include it in the review if I do. But he is very supportive of my blogging.
How extreme do you like your BDSM?
I adore bondage and S&M. The extremeness I judge from scene to scene. I turn it off when I can’t watch anymore. I don’t get the turn on from watersports, but I can watch them. Fisting I cannot watch at all. Sounding is ok. I don’t like to see parts put in presses either. One time a dude had his nuts in a clamp and it was tightening. I didn’t like that at all. My favourite BDSM scene starred Leo Forte and Jesse Santana in Fetish Force’s Back Alley. That was an amazing scene and should have won awards. But it was considered too intense for the usual audience. Why are there limits for BDSM of all things?! I don’t get it…
Like myself, I think you are as interested in the porn stars for their personalities as their looks. Is that right?
I see myself as supporting sex workers, never forgetting that they are people, through my blog. So personality really comes into that. I support their health and well being as well as their careers. I like to get to know each person as well as I can but I am not pushy about it. I’m there to help when needed. I’m amiable and follow each person’s lead.
Do you go to the stars’ public appearances in clubs, etc.? You must have quite a following?
Yes, I go if there is a star that I want to photograph for my blog. I also go to award shows (when I can afford to travel) and have been to Folsom Street Fair and International Mr Leather too - had a life changing experience there!
I wouldn’t say I had much of a following per se, but my few fans are very devoted! A few of the stars know me and I know a couple of them fairly well. I was at a Pre-Grabby party in Chicago and some guy told me I was cute. I smiled and said ‘Thanks’. Turned out he was nominated for Hottest Cock or something. Lol! I had no idea who he was. So I don’t know all the stars and they don’t all know me.
Would you mind talking about your work fighting AIDS?
For 22 years I worked at a large Pharmaceutical Company and for part of that time I was a clinical manager responsible for the audit for expanded access trials, the first of their kind that studied Videx (DDI) which was the second drug after AZT used to treat AIDS. My work helped get Videx approved by FDA in the US and Canada.
I also led a team that collected the data for one of the two clinical studies of Taxol to treat AIDS-related Kaposi’s Sarcoma for which that drug was also approved by the FDA. Of course I was only part of a team. But I see my blog as continuing the fight against AIDS, promoting safe sex. THere is a huge push for bareback films in the porn industry today. I have been asked to review these films by studios but I refuse. Fairview is a safe sex blog.
